Marlin fishing has been really good since the tournament (it always is). Monday we were blown out but Tuesday we caught 5 (and saw a lot more) and yesterday we caught 6. We had couple yesterday that would come right to the flat lines but wouldn't bite. That's really frustrating. We've got a couple of days open next week so give me a call. The marlins are here in full force!!!!
Well, we had our chances in the tournament but didn't quite get it done. The first two days of fishing we did not see a fish and that was extremely dissapointing. Thursday was a different story and we saw our fair share. I think we ended up seeing 12 and had 10 quality bites. We only caught 5 and that tied us with the Viking 74 for top boat of the day. They beat us on time so we lost out on any money. Our last fish on Thursday was a new one for me-a baby sailfish. I've never seen one that small before-maybe about a foot long-it's hard to believe he could eat the bait. Anyway, it's back to regular fishing now-on Saturday we caught about 40 dolphin and missed a sailfish. Sunday we got a nice wahoo and 4 whites. We were supposed to go today but it was blowing just a little too much. We'll be back out there tomorrow.
Monday and Tuesday were pretty slow-we had a few marlin bites but couldn't do much with them. We took Wednesday off and were back out there today. We had a party of only 3-a father and his two young children. Well, they each realed in 2 white marlin a piece and they were ready to come home. That's a pretty good day-6 whites and home early! We're getting ready for the Pirate's Cove Tournament next week-I hope the fish stay around-I'm ready!!!!!
Man, what a difference a day makes. Saturday was kind of slow for us-we had some bites but just couldn't turn them into catches. We missed a double header of big blues then missed a wahoo, a dolphin and finally got a dolphin. Then Sunday day came and there were marlin everywhere! We started out with a white, then missed a blue, then had a triple header of blues come in. We mangaged to get two of those. We set back out and in came a quad of whites. We only got one of those and set back out again. A triple header of whites comes crashing in and we get one of those. We ended up getting 3 more whites for a total of 8 fish for the day. I think we saw 15-wish we could have gotten a few more but I'll take 8 any day.
We've been back chasing the marlin and we have seen our fair share. Yesterday, I think we saw 8 and got 5. We had a couple of double headers early in the morning where we only got one of them. Over the last several days several boats have seen marlin in the double digits. There's a lot of fish around right now. The boats that went tuna fishing had some luck with the bigeyes.
