Fishing has continued to be good over the last several days. We've had lots of dolphin and several billfish a day. Yesterday, the bite slowed considerably but we still managed to get one white marlin, two 80 pound yellowfins (really nice fish) and a dolphin. We've got plenty of days open this week if you want to go.
Wow, the billfish bite was really good today. We saw 12 and got 6. We had 4 come into the baits at one time but only got one of those so that hurt our numbers a little bit. Most of the other boats saw a lot of fish as well. We were down south about 50 or 55 miles. Thursday is open-it doesn't get much better than this.
Saturday's fishing was pretty slow for the fleet. We managed to scratch out about 25 dolphin and a tuna. However, Sunday was an unbelivable day aboard "The Hooker". Our group wanted to go marlin fishing so we headed down south about 50 miles where the best bite has been over the last couple of weeks. We began by putting a bunch of dolphin in the box for supper but by 8:00am we were marlin fishing. Around 9:00 a double header of sails came in on the baits and we managed to get one. We set back out and 10 minutes later a 300 pound blue came in and we hooked him on a dink rig. It took a little while to get him but we finally released him. We had a little lull in the action until 12:30 when we hooked up with a white! After a quick fight we released it and our grand slam was complete! Pretty awesome day-I think that's about my 5th one in my life-grand slams don't happen very often. Can't wait to get back out there and try again.
It's really been a mixed bag over the last several days. We've had lots of dolphin, yelllowfin and bigeye tuna, wahoo and sailfish. Lots of action!!!
